Urgency vs Emergency 

Triage emergencies

  • Chemical or other toxins splashed in to the eye within the last hour

  • Sudden loss or decrease of vision, or the appearance of a cloudy veil of the eye

  • Penetrating ocular injury forceful

  • Forceful trauma to the eye or adnexa

  • Sudden onset of halos around lights especially if associated with red painful eye or brow

  • Sudden onset of persistent severe pain around the eye or severe pain on movement of the eye

  •  Foreign body in the eye or the suspicion of such

  • Sudden onset of diplopia (double vision, not blur)

  • Sudden flashing lights and or floaters Sudden onset of drooping eyelids

  • Sudden onset of a persistent red eye with or without pain, visual disturbance, or crusting

Triage Urgencies

  • Blurred vision which has developed over time

  • Contact lens wearers with sudden problems of vision discomfort or eye appearance

  • Lost or broken eyewear or contact lenses

  • Urgencies are seen within the next 48 hrs Contact the office to describe ur symptoms and schedule an appointment
